I have adifferent problem
My Computer configeration is
P4 -- 3.0
Intel 915 GAV mother board
80 gb sata hard disk
80 gb IDE hard disk

now i bought a new DVD writer.
I was unable to connect that DVD writer as only one IDE port is there in the mother board.
What to do??? Confused????????? :!: :!: :!: :!:

:) Simple !
Use an IDE cable with two connectors at the other end. Make the DVD writer as slave and HDD as master by setting the jumper at the back side.
With mb we get the IDE cable with three connectors on it, or get it for just 25 Rs.

An IDE to Serial ATA converter is designed to convert a standard IDE drive for use with a serial ATA interface.
HDD can be converted to Serial ATA

There are PCI-IDE cards. You install it in a PCI slot, and it can usually handle at least four more IDE devices.
