Some of the users who installed Flash Player, the DVD's which weren't working for them all of a sudden started working.

Anyhow, if the problem persists with the interface we will change it.

is the Brian lara demo with the commentary or non-commentary ?

Its with commentary.

As for HTML interface we are trying to have something like dual interface as of now. However, if the problem still persists in numbers for Septermber issue interface I will very seriously consider for HTML "only" (rather like pre-June issues) interface.

But if you really wanna make a difference, let our editor know what you want by writting to him at editor@jasubhai.com

good .let us keep away from linux for sometime.

premsharma
23-08-2005, 12:47 AM
I have a suggestion for digit guys. Split the subscription [issue] into three catagories i.e.

1. Windows Platform - DVD
2. Windows Platform - CD
3. Linux - DVD or CD [what ever you feel suitable]

a]. You have to work out the costings freshly. Also this plan will take take care of those who do not have combo drives. CD to a subscriber who is having DVD drive is useless and same way DVD is useless to a person who is not having DVD drive.

b]. Linux distros are eating lot of space that is truely what windows platform subscribers are annoyed with. Having these 3 separate catagories will solve this problem too. There are very few operating linux and it is not wise to frustrate your large number of window operators.

c]. Members, your comments please. Do you agree or not ?

Sreekanth V
23-08-2005, 07:01 AM
Agreed with the linux suggestion. but there is already a section for linux now and no problem for continuing it.Another catagorisation is not so needed.
The next time giving a linux distros let them be live CDs.

Great contents this time too.
Thanks thanks and a lot more thanks.

Sreekanth V
23-08-2005, 07:09 AM
One suggestion:
Can you call back the html interface in flash format itself. Also give small preview screenshots of softwares. I didn't like current small interface but wish to improve it.

NegReality
23-08-2005, 04:41 PM
Thanks for cricketing us twice with Brian lara and ICC cricket.

There has been lot of discussion on CD/DVDs, I wonder why don't you start a fresh poll featuring reader's choices.

premsharma
23-08-2005, 05:35 PM
The point is not of a separate linux section. Linux eats so much of space on DVDs that is not acceptable to other users. Linux users are very rare.

shaunak
23-08-2005, 07:50 PM
you could make a better interface in flash itself but dont change it. flash is much faster.better as in 1>bigger 2>change of layout 3>colours mayb?

I found that Internet Explorer 7 Beta was going to come along Next digit issue(september). When we find vista?Or some other Trail version like windows server 2003(Trail version).I give me own personal idea. That Key for windows server 2003(Trail version)can be obtain from microsoft website .So if the user wants to use the Trail version he can obtain a vaild key from microsoft websites by registering with the necessary details. So give us a trail pack Like EA SPORTS CRICKET GAME .By using these idea you can make a come out know?BUT I AM NOT SURE WHETHER IT'S LEGAL .So before (If u publish)contact the respective owners for further details. And then come out with LEGAL.AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE ANY DAMAGE OCCRED .

jacknife - please have dual interface of flash and html , linux users will greatly benefit

and about google earth - i dont see the point of including it in the dvd or the cd
cause a person ( prospective user ) who really wants to use the software would be downloading anything from 1MB + each day . such a person would have (and can ) directly download the google earth 10MB software directly from the net.

The previous one was better...

I completly agree with you. This flashy interface of CD/DVD is not good at all. Earlier was good one. With some description of software including image of that package.

Please revert to to that earlier design of CD/DVD.

Visual Studio Express Edition Tools are all web installers..2.7MB each...Its asking me to dload the main stuff frm web. Thats a disappointment..as I wanted to try em out. Also, the BLIC 2005 demo crashing after 1 ball (but tats got more to do with my PC i guess..so no complains).

They dont have magazine feedback thread posted till the month ends or what.

I like articles by Ram mohan rao. There is hardly anything about the guy though in the mag. It's only robert smith this rober smith that. Have you ever read digit diary without raabo's name in it. How his wife calls how he plays cricket how hee look pensive...Yeah it is raabo...is he such a great person that his name must be spelled right.

In the fast track how they kept preaching about ppl managining the forum and even gave the example of this one to prove the point. Talk of hypocrisy. Having friends to moderate is one thing....having 'sycophants' is altogether another. First robert smith put [deXter] here and then there was even an article about him last year. All because this guy is close to robert smith. This must be the first magazine to promote its employees siblings and relatives. The guy is so genius he couldnt even clear IIT entrance. Some unknown bombay engineering college student who come dime a dozen.

In the graphics card comparision section there was this BIG graphics card with price that must have shamed even those in so-called entry level cards and gave good performance too. They didnt even care to mention it in the main article. They went on and on about XFX cards even though it looked expensive to me. Then there are Leadtek cards ...really good and they didnt even mention it.

The article by robert smith was just a collage of tid-bits from imdb.com. The only saving grace was that he mentioned it. I bet even he couldnt be sure of static frequency and ip address limits he was so quick to mock at.

QwertyManiac
13-09-2005, 02:33 PM
OK,
So if u dont like Raaabo's articles dont read em'
I personally feel that his ones r the best.
(Ever read his convergence article ?)

Robert's Article's r the best ones I LIKE !
Leadtek must have not featured coz they might havenot given thier products for testing...

About that IMDB thing - IT is NOT possible for people to watch a dozen of movies over and over to find bugs / goofs in it...If u can do that , plz contact Digit Employement.

About the frequency think - every 12th passed computer student who has an intrest in comp wud know that and yaar physics is physics - like facts r facts - all know those.

About dex , if u feel u r a better fella, go ahead and prove it...

All have thier goods/bads and FYI all r newbies in some aspect or the other...

No Offence but If u dont like his articles dont read em'
U have the freedom to listen to what u like to so instead of complainin, give suggestions and make this world a better place...

Hope u understand.

tarey_g
14-09-2005, 01:08 AM
@spammy , hardware testing is done only on the hardware sent by companies/distributers , digit or any other mag does not buy hardware to test it. Most probab leadtek(zebronics) didn't manage to send their product for testing thats why leadtek info wasn't there.

I think raaabo as a dvd guy is doin a good job as the dvd content is now better then ever b4 imo.
For the magazine article i didn't read that as the topic didn't intrest me .

abt [dexter] i don't know what that guy is doin and i dont care coz imo acadamic qualification does not refelect intelligence.
ppl those who are not iit'ians are not idiots . and the ppl who think so are idiots imo.
