maybe frontechs are pseudo but altec lansings definately are discrete....
no 2 doubts about that.... i myself use altec lansing ATP5 (4.1) and i'm satisfied with the surround, specially in the games, well as far as movies are concern, they sound good only in 5.1 setup, and i dont watch movies on my computer anyway.. :)

go for altec lansing or creative without giving any second thoughts....

yes there is....KLIPSCH.
but then they are out of reach for many....
but yes altec does sit at the top along with the likes of creative, logitech, harman kardon....
but Klipsch is in different zone alltogether....
