)Intel pentium 4 3.4 Ghz+Asus P5WD2 Premium(925 XE chipset)

it is costing around(14000+17000)=31,000 rs ----. P5WD2 is 955X based board and not 925.Also if you are investing around 30-35k only for board+cpu,then i would any day go for -
Tyan Dual CPU board + 2 x AMD Opteron 242 CPU.

Think about it.

Also for the P5WD2 you will need DDR2 Ram,whereas here you need normal ECC DDR,
so i would suggest -
Get Tyan Board - Approx 15k
2 x AMD Opteron 242 CPU - Approx 9500x2
2GB ECC DDR 400
I guess this machine would be much more powerful. :wink:

Isnt this guy saying that he wants to use this sytem for work ?
Which incidently includes 3dmax,combustion and all.These softwares need raw power, real power to run smoothly.
So Opteron based Workstation would be more fitting for his requirements than a single CPU based AMD 64 or even a P4.

Well
Here is what i think would be good enough for you -

Tyan Board --------> 15,000/-
2 x AMD Opteron 242 -------> 9,500x2 = 19,000/-
2 GB DDR400 ECC Ram ------> 15,000/-
120GB SATA x 2 RAID 0+1 ----> 8,000/-
Geforce 6600GT ------------------> 10,000/-
Tv Tuner --------------------------> 2500/-
Keyboard+Mouse --------------> 1,000/-
19" Philips Flat Monitor ---------> 11,000/-
VIP ZB-01 Cabinet ---------------> 4,000/-
Antec Truepower 550 SMPS -------> 5,500/-
Altec Lansing ATP 3 Speakers -------> 3,000/-
LG 4163B DVD Writer --------------> 3,500/-

Total - 97,800/-

I know this is way beyond your budget but this will be an awesome workstation and generally workstations are expensive.

You can cut short the items according to priority to fit your budget.

For 70K, I think u can try something like Amd X2 4800+. I don't know about the pricing or even if it is released, but it seems fantastic. Besides, it works with asus a8ne with ordinary ram.

In chennai, u can try delta computers (www.deltapage.com) at richie street. He buys directly from raashi, i guess.
