Sound Recorder (?) Problem

When I open Sound Recorder and click on the record button, the computer freezes and i have to restart.
This also happens in Yahoo Messenger and Adobe Audition.
Plz Help

make sure that ur sound drivers a installed properly... better reinstall them with most updated version....

1st give me the complete system configuration and what did u install recentlly and what is ur OS.... The thing i asked u because the progrmmes u have installed might cause this problem & 1 more thing give me the details of ur sound card.

New Problem: I tried it again
No, instead of Freezing, the blue screen of death appeared!!!
Something about DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I have Win XP - completely updated
My sys confing is down there
