Exactly the same ones which you used to give sometime back. It's a really useful tool and doesn't put a big toll on my drives as I had to often hunt for any specific software from the whole collection. Why don't you guys try something like the CH** Cd seek.[/quote]

From the above quotes I assume that you were planning to put archive in aug disc but missed the deadline or something else happened.

You need not give the archive for past four years coz you were giving the archive till very recently. You have to start from where you have left it.

Try to give the archive for DVD's first as it is the most painful thing to search. and try to make the search tool's database upgradeable.

One good tool you can refer to in this aspect is the "serials2000" application.

Give the search tool and post the update files on your website/disc each month.

MODS plz excuse me if i have mentioned the name of an illegal app, but its features are certainly worth looking at.

We dont need a flashy html page etc etc but we need to know where the ****** application is....

With passing of every month, digit is being diluted. Linux OS and videos are occupying lot of space. Linux is no substitute to windows and moreover, enterprises are never going to pass on the benefit of cheaper OS to cutomers while migrating from windows to linux. They will simply inflate their profits. I have sent a mail dedailing the total space wasted for linux during past three years month by month. No one is ready to accept the facts.

No real big games and big softwares and their updates from Pinnacle, NTI, Unlead Adobe, Monarch, Intervideo, Sony etc are coming. The basic purpose of migrating to DVD was to provide big [which can not be downloaded by dial up users] games and softwares. You have failed on this part. U are providing useless small stuff repeatedly every month which can be anyway downloaded by dial up users.

Any letters written to U regarding this goes to dustbin and you are intrested to publish those letters only which are praising digit. July month letter of the month is an example in this case. Some poetry has been written which is in no way related to digit. Writer is trying to exhibit his writing capabilities and you are facilitating that.

I have been member for last three years or so and not going to renew untill unless you come back on track.

Please run an opinion poll in forum on the above points and you will know the truth

Yes, The CD contents seems better than that of DVD. :roll: Fedora eat more than half of the DVD. :evil: Next time giving a linux distro please give Live CDs because it is risk free. I think many people just ignore the presence of a linux distro in the DVD and dont want to waste time to try them out at there own risk. :roll: Only a small amount of people really make use of them. So Live Distros hold good for everyone. And in the upcoming DVDs please try to include more softwares asked in the threads because many of them worth a try. This month's multimedia section is really nice. :lol: Also the inclusion of The Bat is really good. :)

Please read page no. 150 and 151. of the August 2005 Digit Magazine. Do you think that its a valid reason for the price hike?

In reply to the mail by Arnov Sarkar, the Associate Editor says that the price hike is for the quality of Digit. Do you guys think that digit is providing better quality than other magazines that is giving more at lesser price?

Do you guys think that the book they say FREE (Fast Track) is worth it?

They say that they have raised the quality and quantity of the content.....I dont know what they are talking about. Are they talking about the Fast Track book? or the separate contents on the CD and DVD?

They say the "Inflationary pressures and the economics demand such a move!"......Is the inflationary pressure only for Digit? I think it effects everyone but no other magazine has increased the price which means they can still cope up at this point of time.

I dont think that the answer DIGIT has given for the price hike is satisfactory.

Your thoughts on this people????

nothing changed in the mag except a holier-than-thou executive editor. he had me splitting with his phony replies in letters section.

in the editorial they were harpping on ancient bio-metrics and all those security measures. reminded me of decade old hollywwod movies with wesley snipes gauging the eyeballs of a guard and getting access with the retina-scan. fingerprints are so easy to fake and so is tampering with the voice.

with the conventional passwords, if you ask me how many times did i change it i will tell how many times did my data have been compromised. not once and not once respectively. i just got this from a newsmagazine in the context of rapes a few weeks ago and i guess is relevant here too - while you should be cautious, dont live in fear.

fast track series is not worth the paper it get printed on. just the rehashed content with hardly anything new.

in linux distributions comparision, you said even microsoft should learn a thing or two from xandros partitioning system. you didnt even give a snapshot or cared to elaborate on it. so you write articles and we are simply supposed to take your word for it.

articles by robert smith is more of a comedy than anything else.

there must be something wrong with me why i buy this mag without even gaining much. maybe i have got way useless cash to spare and time to boot.

In the autorun interface the software list is empty in both cd and dvd
first disable the autorun,then go to cd \dvd folder,double click on index.exe

nothing changed in the mag except a holier-than-thou executive editor. he had me splitting with his phony replies in letters section.

in the editorial they were harpping on ancient bio-metrics and all those security measures. reminded me of decade old hollywwod movies with wesley snipes gauging the eyeballs of a guard and getting access with the retina-scan. fingerprints are so easy to fake and so is tampering with the voice.

Ancient? In movies it was Sci-Fi. Today it's "becoming" a reality!

with the conventional passwords, if you ask me how many times did i change it i will tell how many times did my data have been compromised. not once and not once respectively. i just got this from a newsmagazine in the context of rapes a few weeks ago and i guess is relevant here too - while you should be cautious, dont live in fear.

Pg no 10 - Contents Interactive - Under Digital Leisure - Ebooks - The Joke E-book is corrupted.
Pg no.11 - Contents Interactive - Under Digital Passion, the photo under the 1st product 'AppletFile 5.0' looks unrelative as theres no symblo related to the name of the product...
Pg no.12 - The AD of Digit Forum - The Page has been modified and isnt the actual page we see online.
Pg no.12 - The poll doesnt contain all the options that are online.
Pg no.20 - In 'BEAT THAT !' - the name of the company which publishes the prize has 'pte' instead of 'pvt' for the word private.

Have you never seen a spam mail with an indecent header? My 7 year old neighbour gets such e-mails in his account, and though he may not know the meaning of half the words, he sure has learnt to delete spam without batting an eyelid!

hi guys i got 2 cds and 1 dvd with my issue......... 8) although the content of both the cds is the same :(

this times mag is good. but the contents are not good. man only 2 games. both of them i played already. and no other gr8 software, atleast for me.

there are good softwares like "the bat" but that will work for 30 days only(i think)

I do agree fast track books are useless. They are bits and pieces of information and that too not organised properly. Hardly any useful software on it for window users. There are many flaws, to point at but who wants to take pain knowing that these people do not listen.

That is supposed to indicate very minor differences, and if you measure them with an electron microscope i am sure you will see that they are different!

It's called a magazine's style. If you bother to go through the rest of the magazine, you will find that ALL captions do not have fullstops. It is also true for any issue of Digit, not just the current one, and next time it will not have fullstops as well. Wanna bet?

The other categorised e-books zip file has all .wri files that are password protected. So both these are utterly unusable. If this case is with me only??

We should at least get a text file in the root, listing all the softwares and their licenses along with their paths or at least file names and oreferably their licenses. Presently, I prefer to add some software (GPL'ed, other FOSS, other freeware in that order) to my compilations (as I do not need to install the s/w in the system where I am accesssing the DVD (specially as there is no DVD drive anywhere in my office and the only option is my laptop at home), I cannot know fronm the swf interface which is the file I need to copy for a particular software that I may prefer to install in another machine or just wish to keep for any future use.

And yes the idea of providing text files in each major directory with descriptions is a good idea... let's do it! Perhaps even HTML... would that be better? At least you can click on something and get an open/save option where you can save to disk!

Now everytime when I buy the magazine from the newstand, I starts praying the God, "God this time it should work nicely" till I got it inserted into my laptop and waiting patiently to see the opening window. What a pityful and pathetic condition. Sometime I swear that I should not "BUY" anymore magazine hereafter but the first week of everymonth pulls me to the bookshop. My bike automatically stops the moment I see the new "Magazine" hanging at the shop. Can anyone save me from this hell like condition. This month also the DVD and CD were not funtioning properly, I need to go to the shop second time to get the things changed.
