http://www.asiaosc.org/enwiki/page/Open_source_replacements_for_proprietary_software. html
This page, above, has a good listing of FLOSS (Free/Libre and Open
Source Software) replacements for proprietory products. Since it's a
wiki, you can also add to the list.
Tools listed include options for MS Office (office suite), MS Word (word
processor), MS Internet Explorer (Web browser), MS Outlook Express
(email client), Adobe Photoshop (image manipulation), MS Windows
(operating system), Adobe Premier (video editor), MS Internet
Information Server (IIS) web server, Oracle Database MS SQL Server
database, MS Access (database frontend).
Please check the list, and add to it if possible...

This is from FN (Fredrick Noronoha from Goa-lug)

I am sorry that I posted a wrong link and the link to the equivalent software was something else. Moderators please change the name of the thread to ?Advantage of Open Source over Proprietary software? The article however remains informative.
