I run a charitble org for street children. I have been give a IBM300 Pl desktop with 64 kb Ram and 4.2 GB Quantum HDD. Can it run Win XP? If not will it ever? is so what do I have 2 do. Thnx guys n girlz. :(

hey tilo. I think you mean 64MB RAM ;) It should run Windows XP if you turn all the eye candy off and a lot of the services off. If an upgrade is possible I would upgrade the memory to as much ur budget would allow. A 64 mb extra costs 30$.

You can easyly run windows 98, it will run smoothly. Now XP may creat some problems. Better stick to win 98 its a lot better. I think you will do only office work on it, so win is ok, word, excel, PowerPoint etc will run as usual.

Xandross will run fine. Not an issue. Windows 98 will also run just fine on this H/W. However Xandross might be a better option since it is more uptodate.

Just a suggestion here - try Ubuntu (or even Mepis) instead of Xandros. You can get Ubuntu to ship you free CD's (any number). Just use their website to register.

thx guys i got the memory to 320 n installed win xp no probs so far
