Hi

I have a newly assembled Amd 64 with 6600gt and samsung 793mb 17" crt and altec lansing 251(45watt rms) all running on mocrotek 800va and copmuter powered by antec sl 450.

The rig was assembled on tuesaday .

When RON was running the monitor screen went black and I think the speakers gave a sound as if tyhe computer had hanged. This happened more than once.Same happended with hitman contracts demo.

But I have played oher games like doom3 , ut 2004 demo and this may not have happened then.

What is the problem?

plz help

check your ram with memtest86
most prob ram is the culprit.
and also try to get every latest update for ur card.
as u are digitized member i can expect that you have alrteady done that but memtest 86(let it run for the whole night) will clear the whole picture....

I have Asus A8N-E and corsair value select 512mb ddr 400 X 2 .
Could ths in dual channel create a conflict?

In the user guide it is written that this in dual channel corsair value select is not supported.

Also, why does it happen with specific games only and why not with others?

its not a matter of dual or single channel coz if it was then you wud havent been able to boot up.
i had a bad ram stick...
only freedom fighters used to gave me problems....
and sometimes gta....but doom3 run fine.
it depends....everything is just relative.
as for now we can only suspect the ram.....as u wuld be having every latest driver update.
just run memtest86 and then we will have to consider otherposibilities.

WHO SAYS THE A8N E WONT SUPPORT CORSAIR VALUE SELECT RAM....
HAVE YOU BOUGHT UR RAM FROM NETWEB...
ANYWAY THERE IS MUCH LESS POSIBILITY THAT ANY DEALER WILL BUY IT BACK

akshayt

i have bought from netweb

also the user gide says this

also,probably ppl eg: forums.anandtech.com

what do i do if the ram isn't supported

also, why doesn't my computer just reboot why just the monitor screen disappears?

SEE I M NOT HAVING UR SYSTEM IN FRONT OF ME.
SO....EVERYTHING IS JUST LIKE HITTING LIKE A BLIND.
SO THE BEST OPTIONS AVAILABLE IS TO CHEK THE RAM FOR MEMORY CORRUPTION BY MEMTEST86.

COZ IF IT WAS RELATED TO DOUBLE CHANNEL THEN U WULDNT HAVE BEEN RUNNING EVERYTHING PROPERLY

AND ALSO TRY RUNNING IN SINGLE CHANNEL MODE....
COZ IF U ARE SO DAMM SURE ABOUT IT THEN WHY U ARE WORKING IN DUAL CHANNEL MODE.
TRY CHANGING TO SINGLE CGHANNEL MODE AND FOR GODE SAKE PLEASE RUN MEMTEST...
COZ I BOUGHT XMS MEMORY FROM NETWEB AND THEY WERE BAD TOO....I HAD TO REPLACED THE PIECES THE NEXT DAY I BOUGHT THEM FROM NETWEB.

dinesh_singh

AND IF ITS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE BOARD ALL YOU CAN DO IS TO CALL NETWEB AND TRY TO CONVINCE THEN TO GET OTHER MODEL...OR SELL IT TO ANYONE ELSE.

YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE RAM STICKS....
FOR DUAL CHANNEL MODE YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE RAM STICKS IN DIFFERENT COLOUR DIMM SLOTS...AND FOR SINGLE CHANNEL INSTALL THE RAM STICKS TO SAME COLOUR DIMM SLOTS.
OPEN UR CASE AND CHECK THE DIMM COLOURS

@akshayt
dude run the ram in single channel and see but i dont think that will help. also update all drivers to thelatest and ur bios as well. check ur ram with memtest86 as already suggested by others.

Connect power (via molex connector) to your 6600GT (assuming it's AGP)

Details in your manual.

dinesh_singh - get a new keyboard with a working (non-stuck) Caps Lock key

Earlier hitman contracts did too but now it isn't doing.

Can i get my money back from netweb technology andbuy kingston 1gb kit?

dinesh_singh
27-05-2005, 11:32 AM
that you have to ask from netweb....

mohit
27-05-2005, 11:34 AM
contact netweb and ask them for a replacement as i damn sure they will not return your money back. if they dont offer a replacement u can threaten them that u will file a case in the consumer forum. that ought to do it... but make sure its a ram problem and not anything else as they will also test it.

The person says if after the things he has told me are unable to solve the problem then I can return the ram.
Please suggest good qulaity 1gb ddr 400 ram in dual channel for abt 6k.

akshayt
27-05-2005, 05:43 PM
i might go for orignal hynix d43 which may be better than kingston

also, corsair has lifetime warranty(one yr after discontinued by company type nah)

as you said that your monitor shiuld green corner try removing any product able to emit magnetic radiation nearby the computer.
that might also happen if your RAM module is faulty.

hey people , i have downloaded memtest86, i have made a bootable cd from the iso files but have some questions.

i am using 2*256 pc3200 modules , should i check them individually by running the test on one ram module at a time or shud i just run the test with both the modules ?

also which test should i run out of all the 9 tests in the program and for how long should i run the test ?

hey how can we assure that we are buying original RAMsticks in the case of Hynix...there seems to be a lot of local brands which are using their chips..if we go nd search for hynix from a local vendor , he is definitely going to give us a dupeed one..PLS help...Also, are u sure that this original hynix rams can outperform Kingston / Crossair ???
