gr8 man

i too had a similar prob once when the tux came to my rescue...i got the dreaded BSOD in win xp home....at that time i had win xp home, win 98 se and redhat linux 9 installed....

first was when all of a sudden without any warning, windows xp refused to boot.....it was like hell....i had many of my dad's important documents on the ntfs partition and i had some of my documents in the ext3 partition of rh9...i had to recover them if i didnt want myself in a soup.....i thot some files might be missing and that if i just overwrote the existing windows xp, it will be normal....so i put in the windows xp cd and booted....installation seemed fine until after the reboot, it seemed all hell had broken loose.....i got the BSOD sayin
Technical information:
**** STOP: 0x00000044 (0x81205008,0x00001B90,0x00000000,0x00000000)
and with that, grub vanished too bcos of which i cudnt boot into linux (i had no linux boot floppy either)...and i cudnt even boot into the win xp safe mode...

it was like disaster.....but luckily, i had SLAX (also a linux live boot cd) at that time...i popped it in and it mounted the ext3, ntfs and fat32 partitions....i was able to copy the documents from the ntfs partitions and the ones on the ext3 partition onto the fat32 partion of windows 98 and was able to backup the data.....phew
