2 get d Volume icon back in d task bar follow dis path
Start->Settings->control Panel->Sound and Audio Devices->Volume(tab)->Place Volume icon in the Task Bar(check)

ENTER
hopefully it will open d
msconfig window
if it says
file missing or sumthin den download
MSCONFIG.EXE and run it from wherever u extract it
