yeah u can work with only one pci-e card no worries
there is an option !
if u work with one card it'll work in 16x mode
if u work in sli mode each will work in 8x mode
there is a simple chip selector on the asus sli mobo !
the cheapest pci-e card is x300
afaik .. however it definitely isnt worth it !
