[Edited: Raaabo] The information provided in this post was incorrect. In order to remove ad banners in Opera, do the following:
1. Open Opera
2. Go to Help > Buy Opera / or navigate to http://www.opera.com/buy/ If you are a student, Click on Student Discount (http://www.opera.com/buy/student/) Otherwise click on Buy.
3. Fill in credit card details
4. Submit
5. Check email for registration code
6. Never give registration code to friends, they never value things they do not pay for.
