For AV use avast! from the Digit CD. It is free and good enough, you may have to register it free on their site first. As for anti spyware, try a combination of Spybot S&D and AdAware, both can be found from the Digit CD/DVD. Also get HijackThis! from Here.It is handy in finding rootkits and other malicious files.

As a Firewall Zonealarm Basic is unmatched.
