errr...chits...I would suggest takin the HDD to someone elses PC and see if it can be connected as a slave on his system and if so then back up ur data. See if you HDD is at fault first. Run programs such as Norton Disk Doctor and see if it detects bad sectors and see if it can fix it. Also try spinrite. It will even attempt to move the data from bad sectors and make those sectors unavailable.
