1. It will play all the current games, but without all the eye candy. I don't know how important that is to you, but since this PC is mainly for gaming, you really should get ATLEAST a 6600GT.

2. An AMD Dual core is better but also more expensive. A dual core processor will eat up huge chunk of your budget leaving little to spend on other parts. Going dual core would be cool, but an AMD single core would perform better in games than an Intel dual core. If this PC is only for gaming then you would be better off with a more powerful AMD single core. The processors in you ask about are all 64 bit, but that dosen't translate into any performance while gaming.

3. Go to the Intel site and see the differences between the 915 and 945 mobo's in detail. Keep in mind that the 915 DOES NOT support dual core processors. Between the two, the 945 would be a better choice for gaming.

I suggest you buy a Athlon64 proccy, a nForce 4 Ultra mobo, 1 GB of RAM (this is really important) and a 6600GT and above graphics card. Anything less, and you won't enjoy playing the latest games.
