Well I dont know which surge protector you have. The only near decent ones we get are those original mx ones but the best ones are APC and belkin surge protectors. Others are nothing but coupled with 20AWG wiring, a small copper coil and a substandard fuse. UPS comes with inbuilt surge protectors I believe. If the place you live in have power fluctuations it is vital to have a ups. That's something you need to find out.
The crt screen which you have- is it one of the old old where the power sockets is connected to the power supply or the ones which connects on the standard socket.
You need to get your house wiring checked first just to be careful. A series of hardware failure is indeed serious and something which shouldn't be overlooked. Get a good electrician- if you know a civil engineer or an architect, they normally have connections to really good and proper electricians who know how to check things properly.
I wouldn't recommend cm extreme 600w as it is an obsolete power supply by today's standards. There is a power supply guide on the forums so you can check that in regards to power supply. After confirming and checking that the wiring in house is proper- which also includes grounding, getting a proper surge protector/UPS (depending on your area's power stability) and a psu upgrade, you will need to run a stress testing to make sure other components are not verge of dying. I wouldn't advice to do any stress testing- heck I wouldn't advice to switchon the computer to prevent any further damage.
We have a UPS discussion but its on other forums since there is a UPS expert over there (well he is also an open source pro as well ).
