Unless u have a specific reason, like encoding or rendering, you might wanna consider amd64 based system. For a lesser price, u might wanna go for AMD64 3000+ and a asus A8N-E or MSI Neo4 platinum motherboard.

Go for 2x 512MB ddr400. They can be put in dual channel. If ur budjet allows it, go for 6600gt pcx 128MB video card.

You can attach 4 pata hdds to a motherboard, don't worry. But since u have 2 cdroms, you can have max. 2 pata hdds.
