Samsung 50-inch plasma TV

Apparently, Samsung's 3D Blu-ray players aren't the only ones offering cheaper 3D options, as it's new 680 Series and 490 Series plasma HDTVs seem to have invaded the market by surprise! It is reported that these two models made their first appearance in Korea a few days back. Although, it is said that one particular US website revealed the product specifications of 50-inch PN50C680 including special features like 1080p HD capability and DLNA access. It is reported that the PN50C490's situation is a bit uncertain, but FlatpanelsHD has reportedly said, it will be the first 720p 3DTV of the current generation. The notable thing is that, with current series 4 plasmas retailing for around $720, it could also be the first flatpanel 3D set to crack (or at least approach) the $1,000 barrier, at the expense of losing a few pixels in terms of display resolution.

As per the latest updates, it is said that the PN50C490 is up for grabs on a preorder service for just $989 and aptly suitable for PS3 gaming or sports 3D channel viewing (ESPN 3D). As per the sources, it has been established that you could get a 60-inch 1080p display capable HDTV from Mitsubishi at an even cheaper price. Thus, the 3D market seems to have opened up multiple options for the budget conscious consumer!
