The Google Nexus One gets a hands on

Posted on 23-12-2009

In a most unusual hands-on the people at Gizmodo have shyly posted some intimate details of their time with a Google Nexus One.

While they were lucky enough to the one of the first few to have access to the phone outside of Google, they were unfortunately unable to boast about it as much, as one of the conditions of their "source" is that they are not to post any images.

However, over and above what we have already come to know, the hands on does reveal some other points of interest. Firstly the devices is lighter and thinner than the iPhone, and has a much better screen (the best of all smartphones they claim). Secondly, it works much faster than the Droid and iPhone 3GS possibly thanks to a faster 1GHz processor. The phone is very very responsive and works quite smoothly.

The phone features Andorid 2.1 which has wallpapers which are not inly animated but also interactive, for example with a 'water' background, ripples appear wherever you touch the screen.

Furthermore a video of the interface in operation was posted on YouTube which highlights the butteryness that is the Nexus One's  Android 2.1:
