Samsung considering Value Pack update for Galaxy S

Another rumour now indicates that Samsung will probably not bring Android 4.0 ICS to the Galaxy S, instead, just a Value Pack - despite reports of it reconsidering the ICS update. Samsung has yet to confirm either these recent reports; however, considering its previous official announcement, the move seems likely.
The Value Pack will apparently bring a host of ICS features and widgets to Galaxy S, with improved multi-tasking and web browsing also part of the deal. Samsung has used a Value Pack instead of a version upgrade before, with two older Wave devices, the Wave 525 and Wave 533, which got one instead of the Bada 2.0 update.
Samsung’s official reason for not bringing the update to the Galaxy S is that the device would not be able to support the new operating system along with a TouchWiz UI onboard – something consistent with the Nexus S being eligible, as it doesn’t sport a third-party UI atop Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The Korean giant could have still considered releasing a relatively vanilla ROM for the Galaxy S instead of the Value Pack, or really worked at optimizing both elements onboard. We’ll wait for official confirmation before we finally uncross our fingers.
