Motorola: Droid 2 official, Droid Pro due later this year, XT806 flip phone spotted

The Motorola Droid 2 is reportedly up for grabs on the Verizon website from today, on an exclusive $200 contract for 2 years. The Droid 2 is buzzing the market with an Android 2.2 (Froyo) upgrade up its sleeve and a feature-rich configuration including a QWERTY slider keypad, 3.7-inch WVGA display, 8GB internal memory with an additional 8GB microSD expansion slot and a 5 megapixel camera. The other interesting thing is the 3G mobile Wi-Fi hotspot feature, which is being offered as an add-on for a nominal fee of $20 per month. As per sources, the Droid 2 should be available for online purchase from August 12th 2010 onwards.

In related news, Motorola Droid Pro is reportedly proposed to release later this year. The Droid Pro is said to incorporate the popular Android 2.2 (Froyo) version straight out of the box, unlike its siblings Droid and Droid 2. It will be armed with a speedy 1.3 GHz processor, which is deemed to be the fastest processor running on a smartphone till date, in terms of clock speed. Another significant prospect is the Droid Pro's network presence outside the US, apparently enjoying both Verizon's CDMA & GSM networks across the Europe and Asia. This special feature is unlike the characteristics of the other Droid phones in the market. It is expected to ship with a touchscreen display and is tentatively scheduled to release in November 2010. However, there is still no word on its price yet, or any more specifications.

At the same time, the Motorola XT806 Android flip phone has been reportedly spotted on a Chinese regulatory website, supposedly set to hit China Telecom's CDMA2000 network on its launch. Its key selling point is its handwriting input interface on a 3.6-inch LCD screen, which is expected to be a resistive touchscreen. It is reportedly powered by a 600MHz TI OMAP3430 chip and is said to incorporate a feature-rich configuration including a microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, FM radio, WLAN and a 5MP camera supporting 720p video recording. However, there's still no word on its release date or pricing.
