MTV and Swipe launch Volt, a 6-inch dual-core Jelly Bean phablet
MTV aims to flex its popularity as it partners with Swipe Telecom to launch a 6-inch dual-SIM smartphone/phablet for Rs. 12,999.MTV India has partnered with Swipe Telecom to launch a 6-inch Android-based phablet, called the MTV Volt. Priced at Rs. 12,999, the MTV Volt features a built-in TV player and offers access to MTV on-the-go.
Aimed at the young consumers of the country, the MTV Volt runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, coupled with 512MB of RAM.
The MTV Volt supports dual-SIM and has 6-inch capacitive touchscreen with 854x480 pixels resolution. The phablet features 8MP rear camera with Flash, 1.3MP front camera, 4GB built-in storage, 32 expandable storage via T Flash card, G-Sensor, GPS and FM Radio with Recording.
For connectivity, the phablet supports 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and USB 2.0. The MTV Volt is powered by a 3200 mAh battery. Check out the full specifications of the MTV Volt here.

The MTV Volt will be competing against a wide range of budget phablets in the market such as the Karbonn A30 and Byond Phablet PIII. The mobile and tablet manufacturers have been trying to tap the young consumers of the country with smart devices at affordable prices. According to a Nielsen survey, 50 percent of the smartphone users in the country are below the age of 25. Overall, the country has 900 million mobile phones in use, out of which 40 million are smartphones, says the survey.
