PROS

  • Dual SIM dual-standby
  • Auto call record
  • 1800 mAh battery

CONS

  • Cheap build quality
  • Mediocre keypad design
  • Unsatisfactory ergonomics

Summary

The Intex in2040N failed to meet our expectations on several criteria including build quality, keypad design, features and ergonomics. Hence, we do not recommend it in spite of its cheap price of Rs. 2,500 and powerful 1800 mAh battery. Instead, one might consider buying a dual SIM phone from the stables of Fly, Micromax or even a QWERTY dual SIM phone like Byond Q99 or iBUZZ iQ-3 by investing a little more.

The in2040N is one of the eleven new dual SIM handsets released from the stable of Intex, including in1212 Nano+, in2022 Nano, in2044Gem, in2080, in4400, in4415, in420S, in6633, in6660, in8809 projector. Intex has been constantly trying to strengthen its portfolio amidst the bandwagon of dual SIM cellphone brands competing against each other by churning out crunching number of cellphones on a periodic basis.

Look and Feel

The exteriors of in2040n is built completely out of harder than normal plastic. It comes with a glossy black finish on the front panel and matte black finish on the rear panel. The glossy black strip running around the body contours adds a touch of class and appeal to its stylish design. The delicate curves around the corners aid in gripping the cellphone in the palms, and avoiding accidental slip out of your hands. The keypad did not impress us with its inferior build quality and lack of tactile feedback. The mediocre keypad design and its cheap build quality will hurt your fingers badly while typing lengthy messages. You will be disappointed particularly if you are an SMS freak. However, the interface is snappy and there is no apparent lag while browsing the menu options or navigating menus.

Features

In addition to the regular multimedia features, it includes a Photo Editor which comes in handy for clipping and resizing images. It basically allows you to choose between Auto resize, Main LCD clip and Manual clip. Also, you have the options to rotate the image, Redeye reduction, expand the canvas or add text to the image. The other notable feature is the Auto Call Record function which comes in handy if you want to record and playback an important conversation you had with a business partner, a colleague or a friend.
