Google Voice Easy SMS

Google Voice Easy SMS is an intuitive SMS application developed by msullivan, that would allow the user to send messages for free on Windows Mobile using the 3G data connection. It is reported that the developer himself was unable to find a free SMS application that could allow easy text messaging via the Google Voice account (available only in the US for now), and hence he created this one of his own. The app is designed to open a few URL connections via OS networking components using your data connection and thereby allow you to send free messages.

It is to be noted that running this application requires pre-installation of .NET compact framework 3.5, and of course, a 3G connection, which we all are waiting for!

The following are said to be the new features of Google Voice Easy SMS version 1.1:

  • Smart contact selection: Auto-fill option narrows down the names & numbers stored in memory, the moment you start typing the characters of names or numbers.
  • Update checking and notification: Consumes a very low-bandwidth to keep your software up to date.
  • Debug mode: Debug mode allows the user to isolate the cause of the issue and derive a solution based on the logs.
  • Some minor bugs are said to be fixed.
  • Support for majority of special characters in message text.
  • Public source code (available through a click on the developer's weblink).
