Best smartphones from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000Here we take a look at mid-range smartphones you can consider picking up for a budget between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 20,000
The mid range segment (between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 20,000) is where smartphones try to give consumers the best of both worlds – premium features but at an affordable price. Here we see smartphones that are good performers and also bring some additional features to the table. You have a mix of Android and Windows Phone populating this list. These smartphones don’t compromise on the features that budget smartphones do such as the display, camera, etc. That being said, they do lack the punch found in a phone priced maybe Rs. 10,000 higher.
We have with us today five phones listed that are good performers and value for money smartphones for the price you pay – a budget between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 20,000.
1. Xolo Q1000S (Rs. 16,500)
There are three things that the Xolo Q1000S brings to the table – the slimmest form factor in its price (6.9m in thickness), a BSI sensor on the rear camera and the best raw performance when compared to the competition. The phone has a unibody design, which means that you don’t have access to the battery and there is no expandable storage either. The smartphone runs on stock Android and the UI is butter smooth.
The metallic build looks and feels good but the placement of the buttons may be a bit inconvenient to some. The smartphone has the ability to run all the apps from the Play store. The display at full brightness may not be as vibrant as some of the competing devices, but the battery life of the phone is good enough to get through a day of average use.
2. Nokia Lumia 720 (Rs. 18,800)
If you want a smartphone under Rs. 20,000 with the ability to shoot great photos, then the Nokia Lumia 720 should be your weapon of choice. The Lumia 720 has the perfect marriage of features on offer and the price point. You get a 4.3-inch IPS display, a dual-core processor that is more than capable of handling the OS and apps on offer and houses a 2000mAh battery.
The Lumia 720 runs on the Windows Phone 8 OS and comes in a bunch of attractive colours. The build quality of the smartphone is good and the interface is very smooth. The display also has some great viewing angles.
3. Lenovo P780 (Rs. 17,900)
The Lenovo P780 has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 720p display and specifications that are run of the mill. Where it stands out however is its battery capacity. It has a whopping 4000mAh battery that the company claims has the ability to last for 43 hours of 2G talk time and 840 hours of 2G standby time.
The smartphone has a standard candy bar form factor and it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It has a 5-inch display with an IPS panel. The rear houses an 8MP camera and the front has a 0.3MP camera for video calling. It sports 4GB built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The smartphone isn’t the slimmest at 9.95mm in thickness but if a large battery in a smartphone is what you are looking for, then this is the device for you.
