Twitter has continued to tighten the noose around third party apps and sites. The micro-blogging website is now blocking access to such apps and sites that run the the site's platform but do not make money.

Moreover, Twitter is giving sign-in button to only those who are paying Twitter to use its platform. The revelation was made by the developer of parody site Klouchebag, Tom Scott, who further said that the micro-blogging site was commercialising how people connect on Twitter.

“Twitter will go on just fine without Klouchebag. They’ll go on just fine without third-party apps when, sooner or later, they start to turn off access to them. The majority of Twitter’s users, and particularly the ones that the company’s modern incarnation cares about, will be happy with the official clients and web site. They’ll be happy with the occasional ad. Hell, many of them are happy following accounts that do nothing but spout vague platitudes and occasional sponsored tweets,” Scott in a blog post.

Earlier, Twitter updated its API rules, removing the tag that identifies from where a tweet has come and restricting the number of users to 100,000. The new Twitter rules, however, have drawn flak from the developers. A number of third party apps are now leaving the platform. Tweetbot, one of the popular Twitter apps, has shut down their alpha version testing. Developers of Tweetbot in a post revealed that the company had been “unable to come up with a solution that was acceptable” to Twitter.
