Firefox 3.6 Beta 2 now available for download

Posted on 11-11-2009
It looks like Mozilla is serious about meeting the December deadline for Firefox 3.6, making the Beta 2 version available for free download. Windows, Linux or Mac users can grab the program in 45 languages from Mozilla’s servers.

Mozilla had released the first Beta of v3.6 just a few weeks ago, after it got severely delayed. Making up time, the open-source giant has now incorporate more than 190 fixes based on bugs reported by users, which improve performance, stability, security and features.

The browser comes with the new Firefox Personas, which lets users customise the look and feel of their browser and change it with a single click. Speed seems to have been slightly improved as well, as Beta 2 seemed a bit snappier to us than Beta 1, with start-up time being a noticeable improvement.

Meanwhile, Mozilla Europe President Tristan Nitot told The Telegraph that Firefox 3.6 will definitely hit by December, and that the next version of the popular browser should be available by June 2010.

“We are trying to release an update every six months. Users will see less big changes from version to version but there will updates out more regularly,” he said.
