ClearTrip does away with apps; launches all new mobile site
On the occasion of Cleartrip’s sixth anniversary, the company has launched an all new mobile site. The move is a step away from the current trend of having customised apps for each and every platform.
The new mobile site lets travellers book domestic flights from mobile devices, reserve Indian Railway train tickets or check PNR status on the go, browse through trip information and access on-the-go destination guides.
Cleartrip’s new mobile site is customised for mobile browsers but few features listed are only compatible with certain platforms. The site brings with it the ability to book international flights and hotels on a mobile phone - a first for Indian users according to Cleartrip.
E-commerce is shifting to handheld devices, or m-commerce, but could this be the first rumblings of an entirely different emerging trend? The web moved from www traffic to apps and now is it moving back to traditional http traffic? We’ll have to wait and watch.
