One of the most highly anticipated games of 2009, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 went ahead and broke many records when it was launched, raking in revenues of more than $310 million in the first 24 hours in the US and UK alone; selling more than 4.7 million units. Still smashing records, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 seems to have quite a grip on gamers across the world, and this can also be seen in the number of copies being traded on BitTorrent since the game’s launch on 10th, November 2009.

The PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been downloaded more than 4.1 million times as of December 27th, 2009, while the Xbox 360 version has been downloaded more than 970,000 times, in little over a month and half.

Experts are predicting a potential loss for Activision of more than $245 million on the PC version alone. While Activision made more than twice ($550 million) that within the first 5 days from launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, this news must surely be staggering.

Prototype, The Sims 3, Need For Speed Shift and Street Fighter IV round off the Top 5 PC Game torrent downloads of 2009, with runner-up The Sims 3 lagging behind by almost a million downloads, though it released as far back as June, 2009.
