Yes, with Intel's new integrated processing solutions, netbooks can get this thin. Today at Computex, Intel launched the mobile dual core "Pine Trail" platform, optimised for low power consumption and higher performance in thinner and sleeker netbooks. 'Pine Trail' is a two chip Atom-based solution: one chip houses the processor and the GPU on the same die, and the other chip houses the I/O hub chip. The architecture increase the power efficiency and battery life, while giving a performance boost over the current netbooks. However, it would be interesting to see how the integrated graphics compares with a dedicated solution like the NVIDIA Ion 2.

Intel showcased a netbook featuring the dual core 'Pine Trail' based 'Canoe Lake' platform. At just 14mm thickness, the pictures of the world's thinnest netbook are melting our brains, and make us want to lay our hands on one.

Plus, as Intel says, it performs better than other netbooks and runs cooler, and is 50 percent thinner than any other netbook in the market. Well, that seals the deal, doesn't it? In addition to this, Intel also showcased a wide range of other Atom -based energy efficient devices like retailing systems, presentation projectors and multiple tablets.
