No word as to when this will head the innumerable Galaxy S variants in the US, or the normal Galaxy S phones...
Looks like the 4GB Xbox360 S can be upgraded with 250GB HDDWhile Microsoft has yet to confirm this tasty tidbit, the packaging of the 4GB Xbox360 S has revealed various accessories that can be bought with the device, such as Kinect, wireless Xbox360 controllers, and, a 250GB hard drive. Apparently, such a HDD already exists, but comes bundled with the 250GB Xbox360 S, and the Halo Reach Special Edition. Speculation however, based on recent comments by Aaron Greenberg, seems to point towards a standalone release as well.Guillermo Del Toro to develop video gamesAcclaimed director of such movies as Spawn, Pan’s Labyrinth, HellBoy, and many more cult classics, Guillermo Del Toro has confirmed he has signed a deal with a "big company" to develop multiple titles. Some of these...
The just concluded quarter ending June 2010 has seen some remarkable numbers from various companies, including Microsoft and Apple. What is perhaps the most interesting turnaround though, is AMD ATI finally edging ahead of Nvidia in terms of discrete GPU shipments. Many unbiased gamers and even Nvidia fanatics have experienced problems with the green giant in recent times, forcing them to switch over to ATI until Nvidia finally decided to do something about it. Do it they did, with the release of the much awaited and first DX11 GPU from Nvidia, based on the Fermi architecture. But having had their place firmly planted in gamers’ hearts for more than a year now, as well as the good 6 month lead in launching DX11 GPUs, ATI has managed to get a 51% share of the discrete GPU market,...
While Amazon has been making some major improvements on its Kindle hardware, apart from actively trying to sell it with price drops and the like, it has also been concentrating on developing its iPhone/iPad application, and has improved it with leaps and bounds. Available now on the App Store, the Kindle 2.2 app offers many features similar to Apple’s reader app - iBooks, and apparently goes one step further. It provides a complete Oxford American Dictionary, as well as Wikipedia and Google support, allowing readers to easily find and reference information. The Kindle app also allows users to search inside a book, apart from being optimized for the iPad’s screen, and app switching. ...
If a price drop from $259 to $189 was not enough to convince you to buy the new 3G+WiFi 6-inch Kindle, maybe this news might! Amazon has released a WiFi-only version of the 6-inch Kindle, which costs a whole $50 less, at $139. Gone is your 3G connectivity, though in some places (read India), that won’t make much of a difference, not for a while now… This move, like the first massive price drop, is in obvious response to new e-reader products being introduced by Amazon’s competition, very specifically Barnes & Nobles’ just released WiFi only Nook, which is priced at $149. Amazon is definitely trying to keep a price advantage here, also pricing its 3G+WiFi version for $10 less than the $199 3G Nook. It will release on August 27th in the US and UK.Amazon also...
Let's begin by setting the record straight. This is not an article prejudiced against Apple products, or one that indulges in the sport of Apple-bashing (admittedly a favourite pastime of several tech bloggers). There are some facts that no one can deny...such as the fact that Apple Inc single-handedly brought about the MP3 player revolution.Portable MP3 players were very much in existence long before the Cupertino, California-based tech giant entered the scene back in 2001 with a curiously named device called the iPod. Incidentally, at the time, Apple was just about struggling to make ends meet, and was nowhere near being seen as a “technology powerhouse”.What made the iPod so successful was that Apple took the best features of the players then available in...
It seems as if Facebook was wrong about the importance of the information gleaned from 100 million Facebook users profiles by Ron Bowes when he hacked Facebook Directory…Everybody, not just other hackers and unwell-wishers, wants the data he made available as a torrent, including some very major organizations. Looks like their PR and marketing departments just had their jobs made a bit easier, getting access to 100 million indexed user profiles and corresponding information, all from a simple 2.8GB torrent download.A list of the companies has been unveiled by a Gizmodo reader, who apparently used a program not unlike Peer Block to find and correlate the IP addresses downloading the file. Note however, it is quite possible that not every company in the list officially downloaded...
Update: It now appears that Google Dashboard overestimated the level of blockage. People in China suffered from some minor blockages last night, but are able to access Google's service perfectly now. Here's Google's statement on the issue, as emailed to TechCrunch: Because of the way we measure accessibility in China, it’s possible that our machines could overestimate the level of blockage. That seems to be what happened last night when there was a relatively small blockage. It appears now that users in China are accessing our properties normally. Please also note that the dashboard is not a real time tool. And so the saga continues. With twists and turns aplenty, welcome to the latest episode of Google vs. China. As this episode is being written, almost all services of...
FeedDemon is an RSS (and Atom) feed reader for the Windows platform. It has been around for a long time, and still is a popular news aggregator, if not the most. FeedDemon is lightweight and doesn't demand a lot of resources: the installer package is just a 3.6MB download, and a few simple clicks setup the application. Adding a feed is just as simple and the interface is quite intuitive too. While adding a feed, you don't need the actual feed URL of the site which you want to add -- the homepage URL will do just fine; FeedDemon will search for the feed URL of the site and grab it for you. You can also check a preview of the feed, before subscribing to it. This is done through the preview feature of the 'New Subscription' wizard. After a feed has been subscribed, you are given the...
You may have noticed that we have already reviewed the N900 before, from a consumer perspective, so here we plan to do something different. If you are looking at the N900 as a mobile phone, thinking it is the best, due to the large 900 in the name of the device, know this, the successor to the N900 will be the N9; and no, it is not the best consumer smart-phone – read our previous review.Usually, we review a device for as large an audience as possible, but what do you do with something like the the N900, which is a device category in itself? When we got the N900 for review, it was obvious that it needed to go through our usual barrage of testing. But we couldn’t pass the opportunity to review it on its own, in its own terms. Here then, we will take a look at what the N900...
